An interview with Leilani Ching, Founder of The Mavenry, on how she creates her own Sunday Sanctuary. How do you create a sanctuary in your life? NYC can be a crazy place and maintaining a sense of calm is 100% needed to stay grounded. I create a sanctuary in my life by trying to keep a routine – drinking tea and eating a healthy breakfast, meditating in the morning and listening to jazz/piano playlists on Spotify while I’m working. I also have to work-out 4-5 times a week and go to the sauna or bathhouse 2-3 times. Spending quality time with friends is also key, especially as I work by myself most of the time. What are your favorite self-care products? I love Tulura, Everydayoil, Tata Harper and my HigherDose sauna blanket. I end my day and start my morning with Tulura’s revealing botanical oil cleanser and then use Everydayoil for my face and body. If I’m stressed or feeling dry, I’ll spray Tata Harper’s hydrating floral essence spray on my face + try to use my HigherDose sauna blanket 2-3 times per day. What are your favorite Sunday activities that prepare you for the week ahead? On Sunday, I like to relax. I usually sleep-in, do a workout (vinyasa yoga or mega-reformer pilates), sauna, do my laundry and get ready for the week. I like to make my schedule for the week ahead on Sunday evening and then get to bed at a decent time. What is your favorite L’or de Seraphine candle? Zoe from the Laina collection. I love the geometric design on the vessel and the notes of sea salt and violet help to calm me in this often chaotic (yet amazing) city.
